The town of Kilmore is located just 20 minutes north of Mandalay and is one of Victoria's oldest inland towns. Perfect for a day trip or a weekend away close to home, it features a collection of historic buildings including the post office (built in 1863), court house (1864) and former police barracks (1892). However, one of the most striking of Kilmore's public buildings is the former town hall which was built in 1894 and features a decorative facade with enormous Corinthian pillars.
No matter your interests, there is plenty to do and see in Kilmore. Shop up a storm at local vendors like The Handmade Marketplace or relax with a coffee in the stunning surrounds of Rose Cafe. After a day sightseeing at places like The Old Kilmore Gaol, which dates back to 1859 or taking in the serenity at Monument Hill, which looks out over the countryside you may want to indulge in a hearty meal at Macnamara’s Irish Pub. If some beauty indulgence is what tickles your fancy then Skin Puurfect or Viive Skin and Body are the perfect place to bliss out.
Lastly, we hear the place to rest your weary head around these parts is Bindley House Cottagesl. Ideally located for easy access to all the sights, these cottages are nestled within the beautiful gardens of historic Bindley House (circa 1862) complete with 100 year old elm trees, sculptured lawns and cottage garden colour.
With this idyllic country town so close to home you can easily make your next weekend getaway a trip to Kilmore.
